Engaging students at the end of the year can be so tricky! I love to review important skills at the end of the year, but wanted something different than a worksheet with little prep. So, I created reading & math review task cards!

I love using these as a review in the weeks leading up to the end of the year – when I’ve taught all our content and want to quickly know what we need more practice with before the year is over.

Are you ready to simplify your end of year review & engage your students? These task cards are for you!

how to use:

Although there are many ways to use task cards, my favorite by far is to create a scavenger hunt!

  • Print, laminate, and cut out your task cards
  • Hang them up around your classroom – on the walls, on bookshelves – make sure to spread them out!
  • Copy 1 recording sheet for each student
  • Students will move around the room with their recording sheet, find a task card, and answer the task card on their recording sheet

aligned to standards:

These task cards are aligned to Common Core State Standards.  Each task card has a standard listed in the top right corner, so you can know exactly what skill each task card is targeting.

why i love this activity:

Using task cards as a scavenger hunt gets students out of their seats and moving around the room! I set the expectation that students work alone, although they can help each other find task cards.  We use task cards in this way regularly so students understand the expectations.

I can quickly look over student recording sheets and see what skills are mastered and what we need to go back and review before the end of the year.  For example, if multiple students missed a question about arrays I would reteach the concept in a following lesson.

“These task cards helped keep my students engaged the last couple of weeks of the year after we were done with our curriculum.  I will be using these again this year!”

“My 1st graders always enjoy activities that involve moving around the room.  This activity covered the math concepts from this school year very comprehensively.  Thank you.”

Let me know how it goes in your classroom!

happy teaching
